First Sattire Post:

Students from Collingwood School are overly joyed when they hear that they have school whilst all other public schools have a Pro-D day. "I just love the feeling of getting up early in the morning! Especially when I know that I have a full day of academic learning ahead of me. It just makes me feel like I accomplished so much." said a proud grade 9 Collingwood student. On Friday the 23rd while all other kids in the West Vancouver area were asleep, Collingwood students proudly walked into their school with beaming smiles on their faces. Collingwood headmaster, Mr. Wright was thrilled by the students work habits on Friday, “It’s very interesting, our students seem to be in a better mood and more eager to study when the other schools have a Pro-D day.” While a small group of students call their peers “freaks” for liking the fact that they have school, the vast majority of kids highlight this day on their calendars and look forward to it from months in advance.

Over the past couple of months talk has been going around the hallways about shortening the summer holidays. This year 9 of the 14 students who made it to the annual Collingwood Speech Contest talked about how great it would be to shorten the summer break to only a month. Posters and lunch groups have formed to create a petition to send to the School Board to ask for a shorter break. The following is an extract from the letter being send to the School Board: We feel that by extending our school year we will be able to learn our topics in greater depth, the extra month and a half will also leave enough time to add 2 more tests to be written for each subject. It is obvious from the attitude of the students that Collingwood is an excellent school that makes learning the most joyful activity for these youth. Looking for a school to send your kid to? Collingwood School seems like the perfect choice!
